Majdalawi Weaving
Woven in Exile, Embroidered on Homeland

This piece carries a story of displacement, resilience, and an enduring connection to Palestine.

Majdalawi weaving is a traditional Palestinian textile craft, historically associated with the town of Majdal. Following the forced displacement of Palestinians from their homes, the craft continued in exile, including in Upper Egypt, where Palestinian weavers preserved the knowledge and techniques of their homeland.

This textile was woven in Upper Egypt, carrying forward a tradition that survived, It was then brought home to Palestine, where it was hand-embroidered on the land from which its owners were forced to leave and one day will return to.

This is more than a textile. It is a piece of living heritage, woven in exile, returned to homeland, and hand-embroidered on ancestral land.

They are extremely limited and available exclusively through Hubb & Huriya.

We are grateful once again to have partnered with the incredible Bisan (@thobna) from Ramallah, Palestine. Bisan works alongside local women in the region, who hand-embroider each scarf with exceptional care and skill.

Bisan works with local women in Dalal, Beit Doqo, who hand embroider red poppies on to her scarfs. The red poppy is Palestine's national flower, it is symbolic of their resilience, hope, sacrifice and dignity.

Stitched with tales of the land, it's history, and the people who long to be free to return home, these items have journeyed from Hebron, to Ramallah, to the villages of Palestine, to Amman (Jordan) and then made their way to you.

Please note that we have VERY limited stock due to difficulties getting these to the UK. These items are not included with any promotional offers or discounts.

As this has been embroidered in refugee camps under very difficult conditions. This stunning brown scarf has a few noticeable weave errors, which won't be noticeable when worn.
